Dental Extractions & Scaling for a 14-Year-Old Chihuahua with Japanese Veterinarians at Wa. Pet Clinic & Studio
During the consultation period with Dr. Enari and Dr. Sunaga, veterinarians from Japan, Wa. Pet Clinic & Studio treated a 14-year-old Chihuahua for dental and oral health problems.
One important concern in this patient was that the tongue tended to become cyanotic when the dog was under stress. This sign was already observed during the initial examination, so the veterinarians carefully assessed the patient’s condition and closely monitored it before and throughout the procedure.
Following the examination, the Chihuahua was placed under general anesthesia. Teeth indicated for extraction were removed, followed by dental scaling to eliminate accumulated calculus. Throughout the procedure, the patient’s vital signs and overall condition were closely monitored, and the treatment was completed successfully.
This case also highlights the importance of a thorough pre-anesthetic health assessment and careful monitoring during anesthesia, particularly in senior pets or patients with clinical signs that require special attention.
